Day 23 -Journée paresseuse sous la tempête 🌩️

Lazy day under the storm 🌩️ .... Well the day started out nice, sat outside the van, in the sunshine watching the river with my morning cup of coffee.
 While Jill busied herself back and forth to the laundry room over by reception, I did......nothing. Well I had done something, I'd been up and over, at the crack of dawn, honest (ok, 9am) to collect the breakfast crossionts 😇. My plan was to wander into Millau as it was market day, even if it was only an indoor market and not a full blown, outside 'junk fest' 😁. 
       Jills plan was Le Sock deuxième partie - The Sock Part II. The first sock was finished and even though Jill is very critical of herself, I was proud of her ☺️. She was now on a mission; the other sock had to be better so she could show her improved technique to the 'stitch counters' of the Ladies Craft Group back home. 
         Unfortunately all my plans went out of the window. A storm came down the valley and that was it for the day. Time to hold up in the van, eat, drink and (for me) watch films.
I did venture out mid-afternoon. The very nice young ladies at reception made some phone calls and arranged for somebody to come and take away our dead leasuer battery for us 'free of charge'. Saved us a trip across town.
       The weather didnt seem to deter the young'uns at the hotel on the hill with the marquee ourside. The low, but noticable 'thump,thump,thump' of rave music went on well into the night and the very early hours of the morning but it didnt bother us. 😴

Journey to the center of the earth 🔦  .... and new sticker day ! As recommended, today was going underground day. The  Gouffre de Padirac  is the huge entrance to a natural opening approximately 115 feet in diameter and 250 feet deep. It is one of the largest chasms in Europe. Surveyed and mapped  by the cave explorer  Edouard Martel in 1889,  it was opened to the public in 1899.        For centuries it was known locally as the devils hole  and was often used to get rid of dead animals and the occasional body. Day 32 - A à B 🛣️

A to B  🛣️.... Today was just a fill in day, an A to B day. About 90 miles to get us south and in a position to do our next (semi) planned series of stops & sights. The day started good, only I minor detor sent us  further into the national park which ment we had to  cut across the corner and met up with the original road a bit further south. We had the usual 'moments' we've gotten used to by now; narrow bits, unmanned crossings and 'close encounter of the wagon kind' , for this park at least, 'loggers'.    But nice parks always give way to urban life eventually and once we emerged from the park we need a place to stop for lunch. We found a nice  stop by a picnic area next to a small lake just out side the town of   Tulle.  " Its spitting ! Day 31 - "il fait trop chaud" 🥵

" Its too hot 🥵" .... becarful what you wish for young lady 🤔.  With a second night at the lake booked, the plan was to have a walk and maybe go for a beer. Well, that all went out of the window didn't it 🙄. It wasn't long before the temperature started to get uncomfortable . With 30+ temperatures predicted we would be staying by the van today.        I ventured down to the lakeshore to check it out but it was starting to get 'bug city' so we rolled out the big canopy and got the chairs out.  Once Jill was set up  with her book, her knitting and watching the birds I went and washed 'my smalls' in one of the open air sinks with built in wash board. Washing done and pegged out I then retired to the back of the van with the doors open, edited photos and grazed on cheese and wine 😋.     When late afternoon arrived it suddenly started 'spitting' ! "That's not planned, is it on your weather app?"...."Nope, not on mine." J
