Day 45 - nous devons faire ceci et ceci et ceci et.....

We need to do this and this and this and...

For almost all of  this trip we have been flexible and mostly making it up as we go along or day by day. We really only have/had 3 dates we had to be somewhere. Getting the Eurotunnel to France, getting the Eurotunnel home and being somewhere on the 24th of June. We had things to cram in now before the 24th.
"Today we need to go and see this lighthouse, then we need to go and see this lighthouse, then we need fuel, then we need  to go shopping because I've only got one breakfast yoghurt left and you only have two bottles of beer in the fridge so if we don't go shopping we are going to staaaaaarve 😩, oh and we need to get to the next stop over place early before it fills up......😟"."Okey dokey, lets go!"
Back into Morlaix we went but this time Jill managed to throw the van into the very tight uphill bend so we didn't have to go back and forth to roundabouts then it was across country to the sea.

Well not quite all the way to the sea as the 1st lighthouse is a quarter of a mile in land 😯.

👨"There it is, ok we've seen it lets turn around and got to the next one..."...."NO! I want to go and get close to it"👱‍♀️
The phare de Trézien was built in 1894 and is located within the town of Plouarzel. It is painted white on its south side. Its 37m high and its range is now 23miles. Its open to visitors in the high season only, typical..... another one we cant get close to 😞.
Next one looked a bit more promising 🤗.
The Saint-Mathieu lighthouse was built in 1835 among the ruins of the ancient Abbaye Saint-Mathieu de Fine-Terre. It is a major lighthouse of the French coast, with a theoretical range of 29 nautical miles and is 121 feet tall. Its open to the public, but of course not on the day we visit 🙄. Nevertheless it was a chance wander round and 'get up close' 🤗...but not too close to the coast guard station on the end... more "no photographs allowed" signs 😏

Jill of course had to hug the baby lighthouse 🤗.
Memorials are dotted about the site dedicated to ships and sailors lost at sea and a sealed tomb has been built on the site of the gun emplacement a little further along the coast.

After an hour or two wandering around it was campsite time. The first one was a bit misleading with its photos and description. It wasn't on the harbour it was tucked away to the side of the main street, no shade and not very big. The harbour was nice and it has a couple of cafes and bars but the site was just a bit too oppressive. Saw a nice boat tho...

Further along the coast, over the bendy bridge we found a 30 pitch site with a bit of shade and 'open'ness' and set up for the night.
------------------------------
Jill is beginning to grow a distinct dislike to something mechanical that has followed us around constantly .....
" if its not campsites with strimmers first thing in the morning or council workers with strimmers cutting alongside the road and holding up traffic, its people in gardens  at 9.30pm at night using strimmers . If there is ever a question which country has the most strimmers the answer will be France 😖"
